A Probationary Officer (PO) is an assistant manager of scale-I in a bank. The role of a PO is to ensure that the business of the bank keeps on increasing by catering to the banks’ customers properly, handling customer complaints, and addressing various customer related issues.
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts a written exam for the hiring of Probationary Officers (PO) in different Public Sector Banks (PSU).
Every year all the government, as well as the private banks, conduct Bank PO exams through IBPS to recruit officers.

Bank PO Eligibility:-
• A candidate’s age must be between 21-30 years while applying for the Bank PO exam. Age relaxation of 5 years is given to the candidates belonging to SC and ST categories and the age relaxation of 3 years is given to the candidate belonging to OBC.
• A candidate must be a graduate from a designated University.
• A candidate must also not hold any criminal record. If found guilty, their candidature is likely to get cancelled.
Bank PO Syllabus & Exam Pattern:- Recruitment is done generally through a three-step process:
● Preliminary Exams
● Mains Exam
● Interview process The syllabus of Bank PO exam is designed to assess the candidate’s aptitude and general awareness.
Preliminary Exam Pattern:-
● Quantitative Aptitude
● Reasoning
● Verbal Ability
1. English Language- 30 Questions- 30 Marks
2. Numerical Ability-35 Questions- 35 Marks
3. Reasoning Ability – 35 Questions- 35 Marks
There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern:-
1. Reasoning & Computer Aptitude – 45 Questions- 60 Marks
2. English Language- 35 Questions- 40 Marks
3. Data Analysis and Interpretation- 35 Questions- 60 Marks
4. General, Economy/Banking Awareness- 40 Questions – 40 Marks
Total: 155 questions carrying 200 marks to be attempted in maximum 180 minutes.
IBPS PO 2019 Interview Process:- Candidates who qualify the Mains exam are finally called for the interview by IBPS. The interview carries 100 marks.

The preliminary exam consists of Reasoning, English Language, and Numerical Ability. The mains exam consists of Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, General/Financial Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language.
Bank Clerk Eligibility:-
The candidate must fulfill the following eligibility criteria before applying for the Bank Clerk exam:
• The candidate must be between the age of 20-28 years.
• The candidate must be a graduate from a recognized State or Central University.
• The candidate must not hold any criminal record while applying for the exam.
